This is the first book of the series that I have read. How can you not fall in love with a Scottish vampire in a kilt?
I felt bits and pieces from other series I've read (and loved) throughout this book. There is a little Christine Feehan Dark Ones feel to it with the family-like relationship between all the vamps and the relationship with the priest. Certain scenes (eating chocolate and ice cream) reminded me of Aeron and Olivia in Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series, which were both well done. And lastly, the different kinds of shifters helping out the vamps and the presence of synthetic blood takes me back to good ole Sookie Stackhouse.
I'm a noob when it comes to his genre. I've only been reading paranormal/fantasy for about a year, so I don't have too many series to judge against. But as for now, I plan to start this one from the beginning and enjoy all the back story about the couples I met in this book.
