3-1/2 stars. I was really into the story until the last 20 pages or so. The end felt rushed and who I considered the main villain (La Roux) was nearly all but ignored. I understand that maybe the reader would feel confused with what seems a love triangle with La Roux when the real triangle is supposed to be between Stefan, Thomas and Judith, but really it was La Roux who instigated all the terrible things in Judith's life. Her 5 year hate-fest was surprisingly diminished in the story until the very end where I'm still confused what happened to La Roux. Wasn't Judith supposed to learn to control her element? Wasn't she supposed to learn balance in her life? Where did these plot threads go? I guess I just wanted a more tidy wrap-up, which I can usually count on in a Feehan book. Maybe we will get a novella in between this book and the next to finish this one off.
