This one was so-so for me. I really liked that the female lead was so kick-butt. She seemed way more dangerous than the hero. (The samurai angle was also cool.) The romance part was pretty typical for the series which is comforting to get what you expect.
The boss fight (the final action at the end) didn't meet the usual amazing action sequences I am accustom to reading from Ms. Feehan. I rank her at the top of my list for writing well choreographed action packed combat scenes, (the extract of Elle in Hidden Currents is still my favorite) and this one felt awkward with all the acronyms and overly detailed in describing the planning phase. Just show me how it turns out. Preferably with lots of explosions.
Still, It's a decent addition to the series and worth reading. And I forgot to mention, it also sets up some new stuff that is going to impact the next couple books.
